I've got two characters that I would love to have any artist take a crack at. First, Name: Tobias Danior Race: Human Age: 17 Gender: Male Appearance: Tobias is, in most regards, an average man. He stands at 5’10 with a lean body from years of travel and training. His head is topped by closely cropped black hair. A slightly pointed nose and a wry grin both serve to set off his green eyes that seem to always have a subtle gleam of laughter. The years spent traveling on the road during his apprenticeship has darkened his skin. His clothing is simple, traveling fare. Tobias likes to be able to blend into a crowd when he needs to and feels that his skills can help him stick out if the need arises. Because of this, he favors earth tones in his clothes, nothing terribly bright, but practical for traveling the dusty roads of Quen. Simple brown boots that lace up slightly over his ankles blend into his plain brown pants that are held up by a worn leather cord. Strapped to the cord is a beat-up sheath that holds a rather plain rapier. He wears a slightly lighter brown tunic with sleeves that hang loosely over his wrists. Though he doesn’t often wear it, he does carry a cloak for the times that he may need to block the harsher elements. He also keeps a hat for donations though he doesn’t wear it often. Picture: Tobias is a storyteller that uses magic to create illusions to illustrate his stories. I would love to see him sitting down with a smile on his face and his hands spread or cupped with a floating image between them as if he was telling a tale or just practicing. The magic is based around manipulating light so any light effects that you would want to add would be interesting. That's my vision though. I'm open (and excited) to see others. Second, Name: Garren Renier Race: Human, but has been magically altered Age: 20 Gender: Male Appearance: Garren is 6’10 feet (around 2.1 meters) and for all intents and purposes appears as a seamless suit of armor. His head looks like a helm with a long narrow, black void for his eyes and a square indentation with four holes where his mouth would be. The top of the helm is tapered slightly. His body as a whole has the defining look of muscles without the real detail of skin. His form appears masculine in build, but has no distinctly male parts being effectively neutered by the process he underwent. His feet do not have individual digits, but have been fused to appear as a solid boot. As his appearance can create a range of reactions among people, he has taken to wearing a rather large, gray wool cloak. While it doesn’t completely hide his appearance, it does give enough cover to allow the illusion of a knight in armor. He wears his sword and shield strapped on his back over the cloak. I will skip the background as it isn't vital. Both characters can be found at www.quentriandal.com if you would like more info. Picture: This was an attempt to create a different take on the knight and shining armor stereotype. Feel free to touch up the details slightly (give the helm your own feel, tatter the cloak,). The key here is that he shouldn't be ornate or heavily detailed. A hybrid type challenge for the artists I suppose. The key features are the void strip for his eyes and the indentation (I'm not married to a straight square there if you can add something dynamic to it without becoming to ornate) with four holes. Ideally the picture would emphasize his size and power or the tragedy of the character (he's a man transformed into a suit of armor) so perhaps a simple scene of him looking off in the distance with the wind blowing his cloak. I'm excited to see whatever you may think is best for the picture. Thank you for your consideration. *edit* I suppose I should note this as well. If you have an idea or a concept for one of the above that would transcend the generosity of a free portrait, please send me a message with your idea, a link to some of your work, and maybe a preliminary sketch and we can discuss a possible commission. I can be reached by email at matthan753 at juno dot com Regardless of that, I look forward to seeing the new artwork to come from this thread and want to thank the artists' beforehand for their generosity.
