Alrighty... I'm going to peek inside the PDF copy I received a few weeks ago and give some samples. First of all, you don't need the psionics handbook, although there is some material int he book that uses it. Alternate Flayers - in the search for perfection of the Illeth, they have discovered and crafted other forms of Illeth life, including fleshcrafting new forms, ectoplasmic illeth, illeth liches, etc. We have included a variety of other critters including the Illethkin template, linking aboleths to the illeth, Araneth (spider Illethkin), Draketh (draconic Illethkin), Igneth (fire Illethkin), Kraketh (the mind of the deep), Maleth (infernal Illethkin), Neoleth, Protoneth (shapechanging Illethkin), Umbraleth (shadow Illethkin), and a variety of humanoid illethkin. We have also included information on the slave races, past and present, including the generic 'proles', the Bana'Dur (a half-eleven ex-slave race), the Domani (plane-shifting halfling variants), the Forsaken (ex human slaves who have learned psionics from their old masters), Mind Flayer technology - Fleshcrafted items, magic weapons and armor (carapace armor, scorpion harness, flesh-meld armor and finally psionically powered carapace armor - think organic power armor here). Servitor life forms created by fleshcraft that act as tools. Psionic items (you don't need the psi book for these, they are effectively identical to magic items) including a few psionic artifacts. Magic - four new clerical domains, 7 pages of spells, 5 pages of psionic powers... (and yes, these 5 pages are probably wasted on you if you don't use the psiHB) Feats - A fair portion of these are psionic based... but as indicated in the chapter, any psionic creature (such as a mind-flayer) can take these, so they are not wasted on you if you don't use the PsiHB, just that the PCs in your campaign won't be able to use them - but flayers still will. Bind Astral Construct - this one is for psiHB users only. Eldritch Blast - psionic but doesn't need the PsiHB Food for Thought - turn brains into Power Points or Spell Levels Improved Levitation Improved Natural Psionics Inquisition Manifestation / Inquisition Spell (metapsionic / metamagic feat) Knowledge of Millenia Taste for Knowledge (psionic, but works without the psiHB) Illeth & Class Chapter on the various classes and how they interact iwht Illeth society, and how Illeth society interacts with these classes. Most of the classes also have an optional rule or example, such as the CR and mods for a race of barbaric Illeth who have los ttheir psionics, rules for psionic art for Illeth bards (and other depraved races), a psionics-based druid variant class for Illeths and other psionic races, channeling mind blasts into a monk's ki attacks, making the Illeth's favored class sorcerer instead of psion to use them more fully without the psiHB - a race that is slightly different in texture, but almost identical in effect. Prestige Classes Aggrithid - drow-hunters. After all, this book interlinks with Plot & Poison, no? Skull Collector - Illeth rangers - one of the few ways a non-lawful Illeth can find any level of acceptance from their kin - by showing off their collection of skulls Mind Eater - flayers who don't just have a taste for brains, but the ability to extract information and other powers from the minds of the dead. Keeper - masters of the Illeth lore. Many keepers are not actually Illeth, but slaves forced into this role of living libraries. Warrior of the Violet Line - Illeth paladins. A martial class for Illeth who defend their enclaves physically instead of relying on their slave races for combat. Dark Slayer - Shadowy Illeth assassins who have learned how to kill... permanently. Master of Flesh - masters of the craft of flesh, as well as psionic tattoos. This one requires the PsiHB One of my fave chapters is next - alternate flayers. What if? Mind Flayers are the avatars of a rising psionic god making his mark on the prime? These psileth don't eat brains, but instead implant creatures with psionic potential. Mind Flayers are shock troops from Dimension X? Psychic Warriors that eat brains? Be afraid, for who knows how powerful the race that acts as the generals for these troops may be! Mind Flayers are servants of a God of Death who will not die? Did someone say Cthulhu? Chaotic and Evil flayer necromancers and the human cults that serve them and their god. What if they have GODS? (this book assumes that flayers despise religion, having existed in an empire that is older than many gods, older than many pantheons!) Presenting a psionic pantheon of dark and twisted psionic gods of the Illeth...
