I think the design is based on several factors: 1. The box is designed with the nostalgia factor not to get current gamers to buy it for themselves (although I'm sure they wouldn't mind that) but also to get current gamers to buy it for others... "I remember the red box! I had so much fun with that... I bet Jimmy/Lisa/Paul/Fran/whoever would have a blast with a copy..." Cha-ching. 2. Similar to above, as Charles Ryan said I bet there are a lot of people who no longer game, but would more easily recognize the box, and buy it for their own Jimmy/Lisa/Paul/Fran/whoever. 3. I'm almost positive there will be info about the DDI in the thing. So with 2 levels, they learn about the books and such + how the ddi works. (two intros in one!) Plus an extra "free" level online before they ever have to buy another product. 4. The box also comes with dice, power cards, card stock tokens, a poster map, an adventure, and rules.. That's a LOT of stuff for 20 bux. (You can't just compare number of levels between products. You also have to compare the extra do-hickies it comes with.) I think the thing is a really well thought out and designed product.
