So the way the Inquisitor's healing works is: You make a melee weapon attack -or- the target fails their save against Sacred Flame. No other conditions or riders like flanking or surprise are required. You add your Castigation damage, ranging from 1d6 to 7d6, once per turn and add it to the damage dealt. Half of the damage you deal with that attack goes to your Judgement Pool, which starts at 0 and maxes out at five times your Inquisitor Level. As a bonus action you can Absolve a creature within 20ft, and it otherwise functions as Lay On Hands. You take HP right out of that pool and apply it to your target. This increases to 7 times your Inquisitor level at level 7, when you get Exculpate the Masses, and you can target up to 6 creatures within 60ft, taking points out of your pool for each. At the end of a Long Rest you can sacrifice your own Hit Dice, rolling them like you would in a Short Rest, to add the rolled value to your Judgement Pool. This is your ONLY source of healing. Inquisitors do not get any healing spells on their spell list. You can get things like Remove Disease or Resurrection. But nothing that restores HP. In theory, you get a "Healer" that never runs out of healing and can heal and attack on the same turn. In practice, you'll be able to get healing in combat that you wind up using either in that fight or immediately after it. And in either case fairly sparingly. Also Kickstarter launch is tomorrow.
