Although hero-worship is a thing.  I mean, let's take Taylor Swift and Linus Torvalds as the spirits of pop-rock & linux.  Praying to either does nothing but there's still some idolation combined with the "jeez, I can learn so much from them" aspect.  If you get to be a high level cleric of pop or Linux, you get to be in their chat group (squeee!) Sometimes you can ask a favor or get asked for a favor.</blockquote>
