can you give a summary for those of us who can't watch video at work?

Thanks

Oops. You've probably been home and seen this by now, but...

Rainn Wilson talks about playing D&D when he was 13 years old and shares a couple of drawings he did of his characters that his father recently found. He's no artist, so one of his characters looks a little like Bert from Sesame Street dressed as a barbarian. Another one has "SPEEDO" written on his shorts. He also talks about creating his own armor and weapons out of cardboard, tin foil etc. and "LARPing" with his friends, which was really just an excuse to go out and TP people's houses and getting busted by the cops for buying all the toilet paper and a local convenience store.

So, do not wear makeshift armor and buy out the entire stock of toilet paper at the local convenience store. Lesson learned.

A fun interview and great D&D mention, but I have one criticism--especially in light of the fact that he was basically name-dropping D&D for the purpose of establishing geek cred.

The correct way to establish real geek cred is not to say "I'm so geeky I played D&D when I was 14."

It's to say "I'm so geeky I'm a D&D player." If you have to, you can tack on "I don't have time for it any more, but I played the hell out of it when I was younger."

I'm sure he'll do better next time!

Rainn Wilson also recently appeared on a local morning radio show and commented on how he kept something valuable in a small, drawstring pouch, "not unlike what I used to carry my Dungeons and Dragons dice in."

Unfortunately, I don't remember the context of the discussion, or what prompted his statement, but I found it amusing. :)
