Something that I have used in my own campaign for a while now, but I've never been entirely happy with some of the details, so I've decided to pick the collective brains ( Mmmm, brains... ) of the Board. Basically my Paladin PrC more of a goal and an aspiration than a predetermined destiny. Some people may be born to be Paladins but they must hone their abilities and their spirits before they can assume that lofty position. Mechanically, it is almost identical to the core class with the following changes (I'd post it here, but I don't have the file with me, and I'm a little rusty with HTML):

Alignment restriction is both broader and more restrictive. The Paladin can be of any good alignment, but must be of the same alignment as his chosen deity and each deity has specific entry requirements for the class, including true faith in the chosen deity. Minimum level to achieve the prerequisites varies but is around 8-10.
Improved saves: good Fortitude and Will, poor Reflex.
Spell progression compressed to fit a 10-level class, ending at 3+1/2+1/2+1/1+1 at level 10.
Paladin gains access to one of the deity's Domains, preparing one domain spell per spell level (from 1 to 4) and gaining the Domain ability.
Special mount has been expanded to Celestial companion, identical to the Holy Liberator (from DotF) and Blackguard ability.
However, as a PrC some of the Paladin's abilities are rather weakened and a little to similar to the core class. Lay on hands and smite evil are both based on the Paladin's class level and turn undead is based on class level -2. Would it be too much for lay on hands and smite evil to be based on character level? Or for Turn undead to be based on full class level (character level would be a bit too extreme :D ) Any ideas for improvements or more distinctive features of the PrC?
