The pedula, or "shaggy beast", is a dragon from European legend. So I statted it out, as there's a lack of dragons in D&D with real legendary roots. Comments, etc, are always appreciated. It stands on four short legs, each bearing a clawed paw. A fat tail, with a triangular flap of skin at the tip, drags behind it. The pedula is a nearly elemental force of destruction, blighting everywhere it goes with fire and poison. Pedulas are a rare offshoot of the draconic line, and it is believed they are not entirely natural in origin. Their dim sentience is only capable of reasoning out the most painful ways to kill an opponent and take their shiny objects, but they are most skilled in this area. It is widely rumored in lands devastated by the pedulas that they can only be killed by striking their tail. This is untrue, but probably a safer proposition than trying to hack at the steel spines covering the creatures’ bodies. Pedulas understand Draconic, but do not speak it. They average 40 feet long (although particularly old and vicious specimens may reach nearly double that) and weigh about 10 tons. Combat Pedulas live for combat, and tear into opponents with relish, not to mention teeth the size of daggers and claws like sickles. They prefer to use their breath weapon to set buildings alight to devour those that flee them, but do use it to “soften up” heavily armored opponents, as well as eliminate all but the toughest from a group of foes. Breath Weapon (Su): Once every 1d4+1 rounds, a pedula can breathe a cone of fire 60ft long. All creature caught in the cone must make a Reflex save (DC 23 half) or take 15d6 points of fire damage. The save DC is Constitution based.
