The Church also had its role in enforcing rules on the Parish.      Things were small scale, the peasants relied on the Lord for protection and the Lord was reliant on the peasantry for labour and supply of goods, a noble knew that his own wealth and survival often depended on keeping the common folk happy too</blockquote>
