My vote is for other.

The ranger is a wilderness scout who can track down enemies and fight them.

Their weapon choice is irrelevant. Their use of magical abilities (or not) is irrelevant.

All IMO.

I tend to agree somewhat with Quinn.
I dont think the question can really be answered tho...its a broad archtype with many definitions. The real question is how should that fact be handled in terms of the class.
I dont personaly feel the ranger is defined by a combat style(s)...I feel he is defined by his profusion of skills, tracking, survivalism and connection with nature.

You missed the most basic archetype -- a wilderness warrior. Why do all your options have to be so theme centric -- towards archery, mysticism, etc., but oddly enough you don't really consider simple wilderness warrior to be themed enough.

I'd have to vote for the wilderninja option. Personally, I think rangers should be able to focus on any of those options, but not be restricted to only one.. if that makes any sense.

And to think, I put the last option as a joke...

Everyone who has voted for the Wilderninja so far has subjected themselves to two irreconciable paradoxes. Brownie points to anyone who can figgure out why.
