Re: The Rat Bastard’s Club is now recruiting new members! Well, I will throw my hat in to the ring and see if it salutes... I prefer Mid to High Magic and fairly epic. In my current Campaing, the players are currently level 7 but they are involed with a conflict between two level 16+ NPCs. A few Epic level characters appear every few decades. Hmm...Because I am a rodent who does not know who is his father? On a desolate bluff, seperating the Ocean from the Bay of the capital city, is a light house, tended by Dimkin, the Half-Orc outcast of the capital city. The light house used to be a wind-mill for a nearby village, but it was deserted. The inner workings of the ex-mill help rotate the lantern for the lighthouse. Dimkin will tell anyone who cares to listen his tale. "It was the mother of all storms. Our good captain decided it was better to seek safe harbour and face the possbility of the Law, then to let our Priate ship be smashed along the rocks and all of us be lost. Jail is easier to escape the then watery grave. So we put about the head to the Bay. I was on the watch, and lo did I see a maiden riding a giant swan apon the waters. I thought I was mad, but then others of the crew saw her as well. She was the most beautiful maid we had all seen. While distracted we ran apon some rocks, the ship smashed and took on water. We grabed what we could and then leapt to safety of the launches. I did grab this key. It was the master key to all the chests on board the ship. Little good it does me now. For that loot is sunk in the rough waters below. I look out and on some nights, I can see the maid on her swan. I feel both delight for her beauty but saddend for the loss of my ship and crew, and the wealth burried beneith the waves. I took this mill and created a warning to others to mind the rocks lest they fall to the vissage of the swan maiden." The party an attempt to salvage the lost ship. Dimkin will offer the key in return for the party also dealing with the Swan Maiden. The Swan Maiden is a Succubus that uses her Quaal's Feather Token (swan boat) to lure ships upon the rocks.
