The Republic has just been released as Early Access on DriveThruRpg and Itch.io. Links and game information can be found at http://TheRepublic.MachineSpirit.net The Republic is a game about Social Justice, Element Bending, and Piles of Dice. Players characters are members of marginalised groups within their society that have gained the mystical ability to bend the elements which is forbidden to all except citizens, which they are not. It is then up to the players to decide how they will use those powers to fight for a better tomorrow. The Republic is been developed by Ashton McAllan, Vincent Baker, and Mark Redacted. It is the descendant of Platonic Mastery a game they worked on together for Paul Czege's #Threeforged competition. Since then the game has been worked on and improved to make the Social Justice elements more humanizing, engaging, and palatable and the dice mechanics have been refined into a simple system that represents characters in a unique and intuitive way. The plan had been to keep working on it till it was perfect and polished and finished but it is now being released as early access in response to recent events because maybe the world could maybe use a game about resisting oppressive dehumanising governments and cool Avatar style element bending right about now. During early access players can get the existing core game at a reduced price, watch as we develop the game further, and help shape it by providing feedback and questions. So far we've even had some pretty good responses from people who've checked it out:
I’m really thrilled by the dice mechanics of “The Republic”.
