Though she lived a compassionate and graceful life, her last few years were spent in pain and disfigurement. The year before giving birth to her first and only child, she journeyed from her village to the south, to the former elven city of Gil'Tain. Upon reaching her destination she would pay homage to the grave of her father. Not but half way to her childhood home Peli was captured by a band of Legion deserters. The hatred towards elvenkind was great in her captures, Peli endured long nights of ravishment and torture. After a fortnight of little to almost no sleep, the brutes abandoned their camp due to reports of a company of Legion troops in the area, and left Peli for dead. Peli could only remember being carried from the mountain hideout on a stretcher furs and skin. It was weeks later when she awoke to the face of a Legion officer starring at her with a bowl of what looked like hot soup in his hands. ‘Eat this.’ he said ‘You need strength for you and the child you carry.’ Peli was brought to the village of the DunKira by Captain Moor, a man the people of DunKiren trusted and respected. Moor met with the Elders and it was decided that with Peli’s inability to care for herself a volunteer would be called upon to care for her and the child. Through adolescence he still imagined far off places, but those places weren’t of castles and dragons but of hunting Legion bandits in the wood.
