It's a fan run Facebook group. EGG does not control or run it. I engage with our fans wherever I may find them but that is not an endorsement of any forum or group. I don't generally attack fans or get engaged in political discussions with them when the context is our game, or gaming in general. (I'm happy to do that in other contexts.) It would be pretty weird for a game designer to run around critiquing peoples social and political views. I've posted a couple of times in that group lately asking people to not get into political arguments nor to call each other names. As I've said here, getting into fights about other people's experiences just isn't a wise thing to do. I'm a liberal minded person and to my knowledge, so is everyone else at EGG, Dave included. We don't really talk politics beyond the values of diversity and inclusion that we try to put into the game itself. When you pull out the usual political divides and loyalties, people usually support and enjoy that. I'd kind of hate to see a world where people feel like they can only play games made by people that share the same political views as they do. So, personally, I'm tolerant if you have political views that differ from mine, but I'm not going to accept people calling each other names and the like. I think at the gaming table, you owe everyone respect until they breach that themselves, and if you can't do that, you should step away. People see politics in everything I'm afraid. For me, this incident about having a working environment people can be happy and productive in. That should not be a political issue, but I suppose any situation where you have power, rules, and ethics, there are politics of some kind. So personally, I'm not going to go attacking fans that are conservatives. I'll disagree with then if they want to come on my personal channels and talk about it, but I won't be disparaging them. I will take issue with anyone attacking others or getting into some long political rant on our discord or elsewhere where I can moderate. People who break those rules are politely shown the door. Where I'm not in control, I'll just speak my mind and call for civility because that's all I can really do. Personally, I try to change minds through thoughtful arguments, respect, and empathy. If people can't reciprocate, I might pull out the stops and give them a bit of their own medicine, but I'm always going to try peace first.
