I didn't think of it as an exception so much as an explanation. Thanks. I think we see the subject a bit differently. (Of course, neither of us are really the judge of what it is.) I was trying to answer questions about a specific incident on Facebook where fans of our game were using political slurs like "libtard" and "woke" to express their disdain for those views and their fears that EGG would become some kind of political company. That did branch out into a more general discussion of how to handle moderation as a game company representative or participant when faced with potentially bigoted views. (though in the case of the Facebook group, that's more inferred than directly expressed, the slurs were political, not based on sexual, religious, or racial identity) And yes, now its kind of gone into very general territory, and possibly straight up off-topic. The real issue is whether employees are treated well and whether EGG is managed well. We've wandered fairly far afield. (fine by me, but maybe not so much for Morrus) Thanks, and yes, I think I can. I don't know if I read everything everyone said in the Facebook group, though nothing I saw was explicitly homophobic. If I'd seen any such slurs, I think I'd have reacted differently. Bigotry is one of two things that really does set me off and requires some discipline not to just pull out the rhetorical flame thrower. Generally, I'd rather pull people away from bigotry (and have succeeded at that in a few occasions in my life) but if I have to, I'll roast them. We disagree some. I'll say that if I hear any racism, bigotry, or fascist ra ra at a table, I'm not going to let it pass unresponded to. But if a bigot sits down next to me, and minds their manners, and treats the trans woman on the other side of the table respectfully, then I'm not going to kick them out just because I know something others don't. It's a chance for them to learn that trans people are not so different than they are, and that its totally possible for them to just have fun with someone like that. I think its good to teach and work on hateful people to make them less or non-hateful people. But... if they weaponize their hatred and go on the attack, then I won't tolerate that in my presence. I usually opt for the quiet kill if I'm on line and have that power, no need to waste time, just nuke their access. But if I can't do that, I'll just face them down.
