Sure, OK. You don't own either facebook or kickstarter, But you're a representative of your company, meaning that you could have said "EGG is not OK with bigotry of any sort." If you sit at this hypothetical table with someone you know to be a bigot, then you're either telepathic or have already shown themselves to you to be bigoted, either through their words or their actions. Which means that, according to you, they've made it your business, in which case you should darn well have already judged this person. Since you're going to game with them, it means you've judged their bigotry to be acceptable, as long as they're polite about it. So let's go back to your example of sitting down to game with both a (presumably transphobic) bigot and a trans person. Now, it's very likely a trans person has not only had to deal with discrimination but it's also likely they have put up with actual abuse as well. There are a lot of people in a lot of places in the world who really, really hate transgender people. And in this example, you would knowingly put this trans person in a situation where they are going to face someone who, at best, looks down upon them and may decide to make "jokes" or use slurs at their expense, and at worst, may end up physically harming them, if it turns out the bigot is a violent sort and you hadn't noticed because it wasn't your "business." Dude. That's not cool. Tell me, in this hypothetical example, would you even warn the trans person of who they would be gaming with? Or would you want them to judge the other player for themselves rather than get notified in advance? And you can switch "transphobic bigot and trans person" to "racist and person of color" or "sexist and woman" or any other combination of bigot and target you can think of and it's not OK. It doesn't matter if the bigot is keeping it to themselves. You're still gaming with a bigot! I've been talking about Dave. And you. Nobody else. Unless you count the staff to whom Dave made sexist remarks. Dude. I've asked lots of questions. You haven't answered them. I literally asked this: "So when Dave uses the wrong pronouns, is it truly an honest mistake, just a slip of the tongue, or is it because he doesn't care enough to get it right?" Because this doesn't need you to psychoanalyze anyone. All this needs is you to be able to recognize patterns of behavior. If someone keeps doing a thing that they're not supposed to do, then it's fair to guess they're doing it because they don't care.
