The Sentient War Machine

Was playing Age of Empires and got inspired by the Trebuchets

So anyway anyone got stats on a Sentient (possibly Fiendish) self-animated Trebuchet-like War Machine (tm) that moves around and attacks from a distance by hurling huge flaming rocks?

Could this become the basis of an entire campaign?
- PCs unwittingly uncover a long buried War Machine that suddenly stirs into life and goes on a rampage of destroying the nearest city and every other structure in between.
The PCs must then find a way to destroy it! (or at least control it)

Tonguez: I have but one word for you: Phyrexians!

What is a phyrexian you ask, well If you have played magic you allready know, but for those who have never played that wonderful game, here is a short synopsis:

A phyrexian is a sentient race of mechanical deamons ruled by a deity like figure called yawgmoth. Basically the entire race is made up of sentient and semisentien beings straight out of a H.R. Geiger nightmage. And they have only one goal, to conquer the multiverse (and they where damn near successful too!). Basically they are machines that can breed and evolve.

My M:TG alter ego is actually a Mak Fawa, also known as the Phyrexian Dragon Engine.

Later,

I used to MTG, and the Phyrexians were pretty cool, and some of their cards had the coolest artwork (me thniks Predator Flagship was nice :D ).

As soon as I get Arms and Equipment Guide, I'm gonna design some Predator/Weatherlight-like airships.

In the 3rd party book Creatures of Rokugan, there were a group of constructs called the Fiendish War Machines of Fu Leng. They were a collection of seige engines that moved on their own power. One that I recall especially well was a catapault walking on skeletal legs that used Shadowlands Goblins as its ammunition.

Demiurge out.
