The Shard Axe DDO Novel

This is probably old news that I missed back in January, but, like, what the Dolurrh is with this DDO novel? Why is it not just an Eberron novel advertising itself as a tie-in? And it seems to be set in the Mror Holds, which, last time I checked, is not Stormreach.

Anyone know what is up with this?

I think it's pretty simple. The Eberron Campaign Setting is not an actively supported product line. The DDO: Eberron Unlimited game is. They're simply tying the novel to an existing product line.

As the author, hopefully I can shed some light on your question. The Shard Axe begins in Stormreach (the DDO version) and then moves into Karrnath and the Mror Holds. It is meant to appeal to both DDO players and fans of the pnp setting. Ideally, it will encourage the 3 million+ DDO players to explore other aspects of Eberron not seen in the on-line game, and will encourage fans of the pnp setting to look into the DDO game. Win-win. I guess we'll find out in September if it accomplishes that goal.
