[I]IBHEA beholds the runic circle and its captive. A sound escapes his lips, more hoarse croak than cackle. "Fitting, isn't it, that Delban's black flames given life must free this creature, this elemental from its imprisonment. Seethe not, Dawnflame, your freedom is nigh, and together we shall burn Our Lord's enemies into so many piles of like ash." He gestures around the empty chamber. "Xin Mae," the warlock continues, "which litany is it that The Shadowed Sun prescribes for the breaking of bindings?" Sweat beads the scrivener's brow. "The Litany of Void Drops, Messenger. Surely you recall; it begins: 'One by one The Void Drops fall Wearing the bindings Of shackle or wall...'" His voice trails off. Arunny immediately interjects herself. "Ibhea, can you not see the malevolence of this creature? It oozes it. The whole chamber is filled with the shards of mustard seed and lavendar petals. Look, they float on the streams of fetid song." Ibhea gives his comrade a brief glance of something like pity. And then he approaches the circle, chanting the Litany of Void Drops in full. He removes one of the brass lockpicks he has carried since his youth. Touches it gently to one of the glyphs inscribed on the stone floor. Shuffles to another glyph to repeat the process, chanting the Litany sotto voce. "Blessed Maba of the Heofoncandel, I release into your hands..." Arunny's voice filters in from Ibhea's periphery. Ibhea tunes her out. "Mother Sun," the warlock prays, "bring your power to bear here in the efforts of Your Son's servants. You gave birth to flame, and in breaking these bindings, flame is brought forth into the world yet again." "Maiden and Consort, sharpen our senses. Calm our nervous confusion.
