Hi all,
Short version: Frog God Games have given me permission to create a community Wiki to allow conversion of the Slumbering Tsar Saga to Fifth edition. Come help out at http://www.tsar5e.com
I'm a fan of Greg Vaughan and Frog God Game's mega-sandbox adventure 'The Slumbering Tsar' (https://www.froggodgames.com/slumbering-tsar-saga). For anyone who doesn't know it, it's 955 hard-bound pages of old school brilliance. It's a dangerous sandbox adventure set in the ruined wasteland left behind 300 years after a great siege of an evil temple city by the combined forces of light.
Here's a video review by Undead Viking - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LE6SKcXp2Ps - and here's Endzeitgest's massive 5 star review http://endzeitgeist.com/ezg-reviews-slumbering-tsar-saga/ . It's also a perfect 5/5 with 6 reviews on paizo.com.
I've played a lot of Pathfinder, Frog God Games and others, but I intend to GM my next campaign in Fifth Edition. I still really want it to be The Slumbering Tsar Saga (because, check out the reviews and you'll get an idea why). I decided that I'd convert it for myself as I went along, but that doesn't help anybody else who wants to do the same and I've read that others are doing the same.
So after a forum message, the author Greg Vaughan has kindly given us permission to use the character and locations names for the purpose of creating a 5e conversion Wiki! Another reason to like Frog God Games
The site is intended to be used on laptop, tablet, phone or print-out as a companion to the Pathfinder version hard-back or PDF.
I've put a bit of effort into creating the infrastructure to make it as easy as possible for people to contribute and I hope that together those of us interested in 5e Slumbering Tsar can convert this together. The idea of converting such a gigantic work could be daunting but converting even the first few chapters will provide months of 5e Tsar gaming, and together the community can expand outwards from the Camp into the Desolation just like our brave (and doomed) player characters.
You can register at http://www.tsar5e.com in order to edit content. Feel free to convert a single NPC, a single skill check DC, or as much as you like. Information on converting from Pathfinder to 5e is given here - http://tsar5e.com/mediawiki/wiki/Conversion_Guide . One thing to note, Pathfinder Slumbering Tsar is intended for a party of 5 to 6 level 7 characters. After some discussion with Shadow Demon, one of Frog God Game's in-house 5e converter, the 5e conversion is aimed at 3 to 5, level 5 characters. The thoughts behind specific conversions can be seen on their 'Talk' pages also, and I'd encourage anyone converting stuff to add a few of their thoughts to the Talk page for that conversion. We can all learn from each other.
Here is an example area that I have already converted http://tsar5e.com/mediawiki/wiki/Skeribar's_Ranger_Guides and you can see all my thoughts behind this conversion at its associated talk page - http://tsar5e.com/mediawiki/wiki/Talk:Skeribar's_Ranger_Guides
I have created a simple to use template for NPC stat-blocks so you will get nice looking stat blocks like the above just by entering some simple text. All that is detailed on the Wiki.
I hope that some other Slumbering Tsar Saga fans who also like Fifth Ed will join me in allowing us to play this awesome adventure in the system of our choice.
