D&D 4E The State of Greyhawk in 4E?

Ok, I've been away from D&D for about 8 months (new job duties).

I started considering 4E a few months ago, and very recently I was convinced to adopt the new system. I spoke to some fellow gamers in my area, and it looks like 4E will be the primary RPG at my FLGS. I also got a look at KotS, and I have to admit that I'm intrigued at the the new dynamics of the system. I find it helps my inner grognard to think of 4E as an entirely new game, and not as an update to the D&D of my youth. Hey, it works for me! :)

My question is about Greyhawk. I checked back about 6 pages, but I don't have search anymore. Is it going to be officially supported in any capacity or is it effectively a dead setting? I grew up with Greyhawk, and I really enjoy playing and DMing in that world. I like the idea of a points of light setting, and most of my abortive attempts at homebrews have been in that mold. I can try to homebrew around the core PoL setting, but I'd really like to be able to visit an official Greyhawk from time to time.

So what is the official word on the future of the Flanaess?

It is more then likely going to be supported. Especially given there is a official Greyhawk forum on the 4e WoTC forum. Also they are hoping/planning to bring back many settings: Dragonlance (also has a forum), Spelljammer, Planescape, Dark Sun, Ravenloft, and FR and Eberron of course.

So it makes sense that Greyhawk will most likely also be on the list. They plan on doing 3 books per setting and a setting per year. It will be a Player's Guide, Campaign Guide and Adventure Book.

There will also be support through DDI and if books sale well the possibility of more books.

At I-CON they confirmed that the books are already being worked on for 4e Greyhawk, which means it is very possible it could be the next setting published after Eberron in 2010.

We have official confirmation? Excellent. Even if it does mean waiting...a while.
Actually, it was at I-CON that they initially said that GH woud be supported, but it was at GAMA that they actually said the books were in the works. This was the quote from a Wizard's board member who was there...

"Bill Slavicsek mentioned those by name as what we'd see after Forgotten Realms and Eberron were out. Greyhawk is a definate, he said they were working on the books for it, and Dark Sun is one that he mentioned 'we would see down the line'."

;)

Seriously, though, this is good news. Greyhawk is my favorite setting, and I would love to see something official done with the it in 4e.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm glad to hear that Greyhawk will be an official part of 4E. That reaffirms my decision to switch to the new system.
