I always enjoy reading this every year Matt, thanks for providing it for us. If you don't mind as I've been been taking a hard look at a couple of your products lines lately and making some Mongoose purchases, I'd like to offer some feedback.
Glad to see Traveller doing well- and continued support. I'm looking to get into this line soon as what I've seen so far has been impressive (being a classic traveller only fan)
MRQII- man, you guys did a bang-up job with the rules! SO MUCH better than original MRQ and RQIII. And I want to get a game up running yesterday! But yeesh, the product support line has been so bland- I've bought some support materials too I just cannot get with 2nd age Glorantha as much as I try (and I'm a HUGE fan of the original 3rd age Glorantha), and the "fantasy earth" stuff (Land of Samurai, Vikings, Coliseum, etc) already out, and coming down the pipeline with Avalon Hill's failed attempts at providing the same, I'm not sure what to say all that positive. I feel you guys need to work on providing a new S&S setting that will highlight RQ's strengths-instead of just trying to support it with re-hash of Moorcock & Leiber tacked on. Its the same 'ol product routine when you first picked up the license. Show off the game- get a decent setting book out, and ADVENTURES- and by that I mean classic chaosium style Campaign Paks- whether it's MON, SOY, The Asylum & OT for COC, or Borderlands, Big Rubble, Pavis, & Questworld for RQ2. In fact something like Questworld, without some of the goofiness is exactly what I'm getting at.
Anyhoo- thats JMO as an old school Chaosium & RQ fan- what I see you guys putting out, and in the pipeline looks like you are just going through the motions. Hope that new inspiration/attitude you spoke about will filter over into product development.
