Attack! The Thranish soldiers peacefully go about setting up their morning camp, unaware of the monsters in the hills moving against them. Tibalt slips amongst them unseen and picks his target (S5). The victim is a very young man, probably no older than 16, who clucks softly to his horse as he feeds it a bit of apple. Tibalt hardly has time to note the strangeness of the sensation of merging whatever the substance of his body ihas become with that of the boy before the young soldier is mentally struggling against him. His struggle is brief and Tibalt very quickly subdues him and assumes control. Meanwhile, Carmilla creeps invisibly a short distance and sets up her magical trap. One of the soldiers (M6), already a short distance from his compatriots, notices the wailing and cautiously investigates. However, he has hardly moved ten feet before Lon Deslo springs upon him. Again, the struggle is brief, but before he succumbs to the ghost’s will some of the others take notice that something unusual is going on and shout out an alarm.
