Still, I think it's a great little Ravenloft module, and would be a great module to run at a con.
Yesterday I did another double-header (resulting in a 6-hour session!). Sometimes it can be hard to gauge these kinds of things. I ran "Invisible Stalker" (Dungeon #55). This is a module I've ran a few times before, so I was pretty familiar with it. The main thing was that I needed to stat out the villain using SD rules, which was a little tricky. He worked very well as a Warlock in 5e, but I made him a Wiz4 here, and gave him all the "get out of jail" spells - invisibility, misty step, sleep, charm person, etc. They worked well. Of course, as a wizard, he didn't have a ton of hit points, so went down pretty fast. Still, this little side-trek can be pretty fun with creative players. I then ran "Sea Wolf". I'd never ran this one, and while I did do a bit of prep for it, I mostly ran it as-is. The timeline here is a little hard to follow, so if I ran this one again, it would be helpful to have a strict sequence of events to follow. Of course, like all these other "Van Richten" modules, I removed Van Richten. For fun, I played various sonatas and waltzes while "Antoinette" was at the piano, and various ragtime tunes when "Yvonne" was playing. I kind of sped things along at the end just to wrap it up, but the wildly different musical styles wasn't something that the PCs really caught on to, but it's a great touch here. My players really liked this one, but I could probably could have added a bit more color in here to spice it up a bit in places. Still, I think it's a great little Ravenloft module, and would be a great module to run at a con.
