The game on tap this week was "House of Lament" from the VRgtR book. So, it's the only 5e module I'm planning on running. I had read a review of someone that played it who said their group took 3 sessions to complete it ("because they were completionists"), and I was certain this might be a one-session game, but boy was I wrong. In one session, my group completed the first (of three!) floors. So, at least two solid sessions for this one. The rooms are pretty evocative. My PCs also all have phobias, so I absolutely loved tormenting the party rogue with the ghost cat because the rogue has a phobia of cats! And unlike past modules where I've removed Van Richten, on the request of my daughters (who play), I added in Van Richten as the investigator here. This actually works well for me because I can use Van Richten for the module I intend to follow this up with - "The Scarlett Kiss" since he also plays a role in that as well. Also, funny enough, I ended up re-routing my PCs to Mordentshire for this one, where, it turns out, Van Richten is actually based. So that was fortuitous. The Sea Wolf ended up here because this is where the mists deposited them, even though they were originally inbound to Richemulot. So, a few quests in this town for a few days and then back on the boat for a few more as they try to find clues to their mysterious creator... Discussed it with the players last night, and I might actually slot in "Tegal Manor" in here. It's enormous, but could be a lot of fun. Others I intend to run: Castles Forlorn (massive) A Light in the Belfry (probably 1 session) The Evil Eye (massive) Lady in the Mists (Dungeon) (probably 1 session) I also have "The Laughing Man" (Dungeon) on my list, but as written, it's literally like a 1 hour encounter. It's possible that I might also slot in "Felkovic's Cat" in here at some point, but if I do, I will literally just make "the cat" a random treasure I include somewhere else. "Nightshade" is another simple Dungeon that I really like. It's not a Ravenloft module, and doesn't necessarily even have a Ravenloft feel to it, but it could slot in pretty easily. So, if I need some filler, I could put that in there, too. When I'm done, I'll try to post all my notes and the campaign path I took (and how I weave everything together) in case anyone is interested in trying to recreate this. I could even post up my Shadowdark/Ravenloft house rules I'm using.
