The Time Has Come

I'm playing in a medieval Earth d20 campaign using a character that's sort of a Christian Paladin, but her actual classes are 6 levels of Ranger, and 6 levels of Knight (from PHB II). She's a house race that has some unusual features, and therefore an odd body shape, and I'm looking for a magic item to permanently give her flight. Any recommendations? I need the item, its cost, and how much for it to be modified to fit a nonstandard body shape if it is anything that is worn around the torso.

Thanks!

:]

I would just have permanency cast on her. If you have a mage in your group, fly is free (or scroll- it is like 100 gp) and permanancy would cost like 18000GP

BUt this is contingent on your DMs OK

cheers

Or if you are looking for equipment, then go with Celestial Armor. IT is mithril chain that give flight 3x/ day (i think) and cost ~20,000 gp.

Dont have the books in front of me. But the spell is in PHB and armor is in DMG1

You want wings? Okay, house-make an item that fits in your torso slot and gives you the "wings of flame" spell as an effect a number of times per day.

Well, maybe. But how much would the price have to be modified to fit over an unusual chassis?

And if you want to go all out- then ask your DM if you can do ritual magic that will grant you racial bonuses.

In Savage Species, there is a chapter on ritual magic to change race attributes. YOu will just take a 2 lvl hit to change your type to half celestial, which gives you feathered wings (50%- but no DM is mrean enough to let you go 2 lvl and then say- "Awww- you got a 46%!"

Or half fiend- which comes out to be the same deal- just batwings

Plus, you get some cool bonuses and racial features

Same question - what is the price modifier for a magic item like that for an unusual frame?

Just ask your local DM. He may be more gracious than the books if you are doing this for flavuh

Actually, you're looking in 3.0. In 3.5, Half-Celestial is a LA 4 - but regardless, even if I wanted to give up 4 levels for that, I'm not sure it would be appropriate given my character's mechanical nature.

They are sort of for flavor, but I want them to be functional, and it would be nice if their speed were tied to her own base speed, so they can take advantage of her motor.
