The Two Towers continues to reign at the box office

I'm routing for either LotR or Star Wars to overtake Titanic as the all-time box-office grossing movie. Now is the time.

I'm also hoping that either TTT or RotK takes home a high-echelon Oscar or 2...

As much as I would like that, I doubt the women in the world are going to let that happen. After all, if they cannot be world government leader, at least they can control the box office, or the station that airs Oprah. :p

Then again, there is something to be said of being a genre fan, as opposed to the "in crowd" mainstream audience. I never fit in their world, so why should they be crowding up my world?

True, true. ;)

Even though we all know how Titanic took the crown, I know plenty of females who adore the guys in the LotR movies. Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen aren't Leonardo DiCaprio, but they do make the ladies swoon. Add in that both of the LotR movies stack up pretty well to Titanic in overall quality, the tremendous fellowing of the books and there is a recipe for and new boxoffice king.

I will keep my hopes up. The "normal" ladies have lifetime and other channels but the geeks (male and female alike!) will own the boxoffice again someday. If any of the movies are going to overthrow Titanic, it will most likely be RotK simply because by the time it comes out everyone will know about it. TTT built on the success and popularity of FotR and RotK should do the same.

Just wanted to say that I am a woman, and I NEVER saw Titanic and NEVER will.

I would rather spend $9.25 and watch the elven heroics of Legolas ANY DAY!!!!

Here's wishing LOTR ROMPS that stupid-boat-sinking-sap-crap-movie!! :D

Hmmm, I would actually recommend seeing it. It was one heck of a film. ;) Well directed, well written and well acted. It deserved everything it got. Was no fluke. Just happened to have some extra juice in DiCaprio being a chick-magnet. Not to everyone, of course, but to many.

Doesn't mean that I don't want Titanic to drop down a notch or two in the standings. :D

I don't really dig those death-by-water films. Ugh...too much for me. Gimmie a bloodbath horror flick, sci-fi or fantasy film, but hold the real-life drama for me. I'm not a Lifetime Channel Chick.

I also don't think DiCaprio is a hearthrob in the least. Legolas on the other hand... ;)

Hey, I hear that. I'm just saying that the movie is good enough to not be pigeon-holed into a short statement. It was a very entertaining movie. I did not want to like it, but I did. So based only on that, I have to recommend it as an entertaining motion picture. That's all. ;)

Works for me, I happen to agree.

That being said, go Two Towers!

Well, I had to watch Titanic because of my girlfriend. I don't mind date movies (they put her in the "mood" after the showings ... hehehe) as long as she returns the favor when it is my turn to choose the movies.
