[QUOTE="Planeswalker Maloran, post: 3743928, member: 55061"] I have noticed a trend for anything with a +2 to Int, Wis, or Cha to recieve a +1 level adjustment, even if it isn't deserved. Presumably it's because this makes spellcasters more potent; but +2 Str makes any melee combatant more potent, and +2 Con makes anyone at all more resilient, and neither of these merits a level adjustment. I feel that +2 Int is easily balanced by just the -2 Con, and the -2 Charisma certainly solidifies that. The -1 penalty to all saves is also pretty unpleasant. The corrupting touch is nice, but it's far too unwieldy to be used as an effective weapon. They would make very slightly above average wizards or psions, and not ever be good at much else. I'd say their penalties slightly outweigh their strengths, and they would be significantly underpowered without the +2 Int. As they are, I think they are well balanced, and would not hesitate to allow them in my games (assuming their origin was altered to fit my cosmology, of course). If you use the Taint mechanic (introduced in Oriental Adventures, and greatly improved in Heroes of Horror), an interesting variation would be to have their touch bestow 1 point of either Corruption or Depravity instead of (or as well as) the ability damage. If you also ruled that each member of the race has 1 point of Corruption and one point of Depravity that cannot be removed by any means, that counterbalances the slightly increased power of their touch, and very much supports the "sickly and insane" flavor of the race.
