Azoc pulls a iron key from an unseen pocket and holds it out towards Talea, “Room 4, its upstairs.” The gnome speaks in an angry tone, “Vorgoth you’re late; I hope Draxis has not misjudged you.” The gnome turns toward Talea and without any emotion showing says, “Eager elf, I have a job for you.” Loud enough for the rest of the room to hear he continues, “Those of you who seek an adventure, I have one. Gather at this table and I shall speak more of it.” After everyone who seems interested sits down Bernlin begins his tale, “I am Bernlin, illusionist and thief. In my travels, I’ve encountered many men and monsters and I have seen things that none should ever have to see and done deeds that should not be spoken of. My companions have been slain and forever lost or brought back to their mortal vessels at the last possible moments, but we remaining few have always seized victory. My friends and I are set to destroy a vile sorcerer but first a cure must be found. One of my most powerful allies has been befallen by a most powerful curse. He now exists as one of the undead, he is a vampire.” Bernlin takes a deep breath, “I seek a town known Istah. Rumors have spread that there is a cavern near to where it once was; in its depths there is a spring of life. A reviving energy flows in the water that can cure any wound, remove all diseases, and nullify even the worst of curses.” “But I have met with much difficulty. The town of Istah supposedly vanished over one hundred years ago, here and then not, completely gone. The rumors of the town’s destruction are numerous but its exact location has been forgotten. I have found a possible map, but it is in the possession of another.” Bernlin scans the faces of everyone at his table but doesn’t stop “There is a large tent in the venders’ section of town; the woman inside has the map. I am banned from her business and this gang,” Bernlin gestures towards the twins and Azoc, “cannot steal it because they and the merchant both have protection from the lord of this town. Neither can act against the other or they risk the loss of that protection. I need that map.” Bernlin begins stirring his spoon in the empty bowl and a strange gruel forms.
