I believed this would give me greater insight into the events depicted and the paths chosen by those involved. Yet I did not wish to impose this perspective on any who came after - life is lived forward, not backward - so I have limited myself to making certain allusions, where later events are foreshadowed or can be clearly traced back to their roots.And even with my knowledge of this epic tale, I must admit that many questions still remain. Some individual motives and actions are hidden and may never come to light. I also have acquired greater sympathy for the flawed yet sometimes heroic individuals depicted.
