The Witcher is being adapted into a Netflix series

Sapkowski will be a creative consultant, and Platige Image (a.k.a the people who made the cinematics for the games) are involved as well. The executive producers come from The Mummy franchise and The Expanse.

The news doesn't say whether this will be live action or an animated series.

I reeally really hope this will be good, assuming they actually get it done.

Interesting. I read the first book and was a little disappointed (still might give the second a try one day). Videogame adaptations don’t have the greatest track record, so I can see why they’re sticking to the source material.

My hope is for live action. I think this is another example of studios looking for the next Game of Thrones hit.

While the books are so, so, the computer game is fantastic and I for one am looking forward to this.

Also, the Gen Con event listing is showing a Witcher seminar and R. Talsorian Games with a booth...so, maybe we shall see the the PnP out!

I only played Witcher III, but really enjoyed the storyline and flavor of the world. It is much more adaptable to film than, say, Skyrim. I preferred Skyrim as a video game and got a lot more play time out of Skyrim, but Witcher III felt cinematic. I basically played it as an interactive TV series. Very strong characters and an immersive world. It could work with a good team of writers and a big enough budget for special effects.

You know, with CGI and such for gaming, I could see them doing the show that way. The Witcher 3 has some great some great CGI and have you seen the promos for Qwent!
