[QUOTE="SHARK, post: 469557, member: 1131"] Greetings! The Wrath of Mallenar has been unleashed! The armies of Galleran have struck, and a devastating catastrophe looms on the horizon! The Vallorean armies involved in the latest offensive have made significant progress in the two northern cities, as well as the mountain fortress. Gradually, the Valloreans are crushing the defending forces of evil. Those particular operations will continue to be explored in the thread, "How Would You Defend A Mountain Fortress, Volume II." This thread takes a look at different operations, from a different perspective. From the towering mountains of Arthagann, a vast cloud of blackness and poisonous vapour has poured forth, spreading across the land! Teleport and other communication spells do not seem to work. The armies of the dreaded Vampire King have marched forth from strongholds in the north, and from strongholds in the mountains in the south. These vast armies have marched bouyed by demonic nourishment, driven by the screams of the damned, and before them, the great tyrant Mallenar rides upon his demon-horse, leading his armies in a great and terrible orgy of death and fire! The Vallorean forces, some 280,000 troops that are involved in the southern offensive, have been cut off and surrounded! Deep behind the Vallorean lines, the armies of darkness have joined up, and hordes of beastmen pour forth, lashed by demonic masters, as armies of an ancient and terrible race have joined under King Mallenar's banner! These are the Ghandar, a ferocious race of reptilian humanoids that are about eight feet tall, weigh upwards of 500 lbs, and have heads of (proportional) Tyrannosaurus Rex's. Thousands of years ago, when the elves were ruling vast realms throughout the north and the west, in the south there is a vast continent that was ruled by an empire of Ghandar. The Ghandar ruled this terrible empire for millenia, before falling in a great war that lasted over 1200 years with another elder race. However, though their empire has been thought to be long gone, and the race itself exterminated, there have been rumours through the years of isolated kingdoms of these creatures still living in the vast continent to the south, as well as forging subterranean kingdoms throughout the deepearth. Now, from the south, from out of the mountains, some 460,000 of these terrible monstrous creatures are marching forth, led by an Infernal Ghandar, named Gethenon, Lord of The Blood Tower of Char'genneroth. Gethenon has been joined by: 460,000 Ghandar soldiers; 160,000 beatsmen; 80,000 elite human troops; 650 Fire Giants; 24 Necromancers that fly upon demonic wyverns; 30 Gargantuan Tyrannosaurus Rex's lead the assault; 6000 heavy cavalry mounted on plate-armoured Triceratops; Mallenar has ordered Gethenon to secure the southern flank, and march to a rallying point deep behind the Vallorean lines, some hundred miles behind the Vallorean staging area where they have their supply depots and training camps. Meanwhile, to the north, Mallenar, the ancient vampire king who has ruled the kingdom of Galleran for over a thousand years, leads an awesome horde of the following: 480,000 beastmen; 320,000 humans; 120,000 Hobgoblins; 80,000 black-skinned half-elemental/dwarves that breath molten steel 46,000 Minotaurs; 28,000 Trolls, armoured in black full plate; 25,000 fortified skeleton warriors armed in black and jade plate armour, each wearing an orb of ruby fire that glows and shimmers; a regiment of some 10,000 vampires that ride swift demonic horses, and carry swords of hellfire, with a screaming wind of madness going before them! a special regiment of 600 Winterwights, armoured in balck and gold Full Plate. Mallenar has swept into the attack guarded and supported by three Pyroclastic Dragons, who burn and slaughter everything in their path! Three Vallorean-occupied cities are within two weeks march of the forces of Mallenar, each city having a population of over one million people. There are some 220,000 Vallorean Legionnaries in the area, 140,000 Urrgan, and 60,000 Harthak. The Vallorean forces have great fortresses that protect each of the cities, but the forces involved are not currently unified, as they are scattered in bases of some 25,000 troops each, over a fairly broad area. It would take a week or more for the Vallorean forces to unify under one command. Meanwhile, there are additional Vallorean forces available, but they are farther away, and it would take a month or more for them to arrive in the threatened area. The Vallorean High Command has sent word by Griffon to the party, that are currently embroiled in the fight to take the fortress. The party will soon recieve the message. Now, as the party of the "Guardians of Empire" and as the local Vallorean commander, and as the Vallorean Lord-General in overall strategic command back at the city of Nehben-Khari, over six weeks away,-- What would you do?:) No doubt, the players are going to be in desperate need of help in this situation!
