They're calling it what?

I've noticed that, of all the stuff released during D&DXP, there's very little names that people are arguing over. Powers and such aren't resulting in massive Wuxia Outrage.

Yay for that.

That was a bullet dodged, the names I saw earlier did seem overly Wuxia-ish to me. These not very Wuxia at all. I do have a suspicion that the "Designer Handles" was them trying to get a feel for how such a naming convention would be taken and the responses maybe caused them to tone the names down a bit.

I will say that I was very pleased with the power names the pregen characters had. They had some flavor, but weren't outlandish and seemed straightforward. I especially liked the "Tide of Iron" power.

The dwarven racial ability "Cast Iron Stomach" was a disappointment for me. The power gives a bonus on saves vs. all poisons, but the name implies that it would only be useful against ingested ones.

Actually, the "Tide of Iron" power was the one I liked the least. Sure it sounds cool, but I don't have an idea of what it does if someone was to shout it out at the table like Passing Strike or Brute Strike.

I don't know about everyone else, but my throat is too sore from screaming about it for six months. Give me a chance to heal up, maybe get some Ricola lozenges, and I will be back to my usual, anti-flowery-language self.

Just kidding (well, sort of. I *do* have a sore throat today.) I think the ability names we have heard so far are generic enough to apply to all campaigns, but are still flowery enough to stimulate the imagination. Perhaps the previously mentioned, and previously hated, names were just placeholders for cooler ones? It would seem so.

They led with some of their worst names. And really a lot of that was coming from the wizard specialties that I guess will be in the PHB...

Of the play-testers, the Warlock has the most flavourfull names and effects, but they seem to fit the whole "fey-pact", well, assuming it was some nasty fey they had the pact with.

Maybe higher level powers have more Wuxia style names.

Yeah! Let's hope so. I want to be able to shout "Emerald Dragon Dives!", "Fire Crane Grabs a Frog" or "Golden Steel Flashes in the Sun" every round... :D

Eh. The names aren't as horrific as Golden Wyvern Adept. They've got some minor issues, though.

More accurately, there's much bigger things to whine about now.

The names are the LEAST of their worries at this point. The people who are complaining the loudest and most relevantly are doing it about some issues that run deeper than nomenclature.
