D&D General Thieves' Guild Procuring Souls For A Lich - Fantasy Doordash

Got a thieves guild and a lich in my campaign. Was thinking about how liches hate to leave the house and what a hassle it is to go find a soul to shove in there every 7 days, and hit upon the idea of a fantasy DoorDash

So, my current thought is that the thieves guild brings someone to the lich's designated drop-off point every week, where the lich takes their soul, modifies their memory, and lets them go.

So, questions:

  1. Do souls keep? Do you need a soul fridge to prevent them from going bad?
  2. What's the going rate on souls, plus delivery fee, etc?
  3. What are the most surprising vectors by which my PCs could learn of this relationship?
