Things to do in Chicago

Next month I'm going to be in Chicago for 3 or 4 days at a conference (I live in the UK). I'm unlikely to have much freetime but I may have a single free day before I fly out to Canada (again on business).

As I know virtually nothing about the city, I was wondering what suggestions people who have spent time there would have for how to best make use of the day.

Have a chicago style hot dog and a chicago style pizza. They're great! Go down to the lake and see all the museums and the Shed Aquarium. They're great!
