Inkwell Ideas will be releasing Deck of Beasts: Challenging Creatures at Gen Con this year. Each card has the creature’s art on one side (most have a background added to enhance the art) and the creature’s stats on the back, condensed (but complete) to fit on a standard US poker sized card. Inkwell Ideas will be in the Gen Con exhibitor hall with booth #560. The cards are perfect for better organizing your DM kit because you can bring just the creatures you need. They also let you quickly show the players what they see. The cards are easier to use than books or printouts because when encountered, clip them to the top of your DM screen so the players see the art and you see the stats and the card doesn’t use extra table space! This third deck of creatures from the Kobold Press Tome of Beasts book has the creatures with challenge ratings 6 to 9 (84 creature cards). The first deck, Low-Level Creatures, had creatures with ratings 0 to 2 and the Intermediate-Level Creatures deck had creatures with ratings 3 to 5. Inkwell Ideas also has made a number of other 5th edition creature decks based on the official system reference creatures as well as other creatures converted from earlier editions. We even have other creature decks for other game systems such as Fate, 1st Edition D&D, Dungeon World, and a System Neutral/Knowledge Check Deck. Other new Inkwell Ideas card decks at Gen Con will be Sidequest Decks: Horror Fantasy, Sidequest Decks: Arcane Academy, and 5e Creature Decks: Prehistoric Creatures. The prior Ceature Decks are available in our store, on DriveThru/RPGNow or Amazon as well as game stores that work with Indie Press Revolution.
