I'd say Serenity flopped if U.S. domestic ticket sales was where they expected to make their money. It won't qualify as a blockbuster or smash success, that's for sure. But you can expect for the film to make at least as much money on the international market as domestically...and then DVD sales will probably account for more profit than the theatrical release.

It's pretty disappointing, either way...but I'd just say it's better to be glad it got made at all.

Some have pridicted a slow burn for Serenity. Till word of mouth causes it to flare up. So, Hopefuly there will be no/little drop for next week.

It is very normal for a Sci-fi Move to do Supper the first week then disapear. Fourtanly Serenity is still in the top ten and therefore hope remains.

I need to go to see it for a second time myself. It is rare for me to go see any movie so that should tell you I am impressed.

Yes it is not doing so well BUT look at what came out this week and made less than Serenity did in week 1

In Her Shoes
Two for the Money
The Gospel
Waiting

Well, let's be realistic, here...this is October, and NO ONE is going to the movies right now. I mean, Wallace & Gromit took first place (and deservedly so!), but with only $16 million (which, coincidentally, is Serenity's two week total).

Wallace & Gromit!!!

I am going to say this only once. If those reading this thread ... or any other for that matter ... have not gone to see Wallace & Gromit then you are wasting precious time. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!

I saw it yesterday with Wellstar, and I was practically rolling for the later half of the movie. So were the vast majority of adults in the audience.

I'm sure Serenity is all well and good, admittedly I haven't had the greatest of desires to see it ... But Wallace & Gromit DESERVES that rank!

We are still trying to spin the numbers for Serenity to a positive thing. Trying to make us see a funny, good (haven't seen it but heard good things) movie isn't going to help :p

I hope you can forgive me for (briefly) derailing your thread. Perhaps I should make another to rave about wallace and Gromitt. :D I just tend to lean toward an animated movie in nearly every situation.

Carry on. Carry on.

Yeah, I took my son to see it yesterday and while it's not better than THE WRONG TROUSERS and A CLOSE SHAVE it was still really good.
