Personally I'll be thankful if there isn't another Saw movie as long as I'm alive. That makes two this year! :gag:

Unfortunately for you Saw III open larger than Saw II and thier goal is to release a new Saw sequal every year at Haloween for the forseable future. They are already working on Saw IV.

I thought it was only a trilogy

Less that 10 mill to make and rakes in 100+ mill world wide, this will keep going as long as it keeps them coming.

this is probably TMI, but the only reason I watched the Saw movies over the summer is because I wanted to watch a movie that would kill any lustful thoughts I had. I had just gone through a reversal for a vasectomy and nothing can happen afterwards for 2 weeks. The Saw movies did the trick. Very ick.

I am surprised though that they got made. I guess I am use to horror movies of the 80s and they all had the lover couples that go off to get whacked. Saw seems to have no interest in that aspect of the genre.

I wonder if Scary Movie series spawned this...poke fun at all the horror movie stereotypes long enough and people will want to see something completely different...

I mean Saw is pretty much straight up horror...disturbing and gross to boot....

I think it is all about return on investment, horror movies have always done good, as I heard over the weekend, fear is the star, you don't need big names just a gimick. At 8$/ticket, you only need 4.4 million people to see it to make 35 million, 11,000 people per screen or 3890 people per screen a day, or 350 people at 12 shows a day just for one screen.

Just good business practice. Also, heard over the weekend, that horror movies will get a green light faster than other movies, which means new and young directors will do them to get noticed and do other movies later in their career.
