Hand of Evil

Hero
Epic
Man, going into this weekend I was kind of worried, thinking that In the Name of the King could have a chance to be the number 1 movie. I mean a Uwe Boll movie number 1! Lucky for us everyone remembered it was a Uwe Boll film and stayed away.

I have not seen it, but reviews of Dungeon Siege are that it is not that bad, and better than any other movie he's ever made.

Why would it be good for another fantasy film to fail? Wouldn't we all be better off if some of them made money, and we got more?

Not necessarily, no. We might be better off if some good fantasy films made money, but even that doesn't guarantee that more good fantasy films would be made. Personally, I don't want a glut of fantasy films that are terrible. It's a viable vehicle for storytelling, why would we want to give more critics ammo against it?

So I didn't go see ItNotK because it looked horrible, and chances are it is.

While I don't want to root for a fantasy film to fail I have no problems rooting for a Ewe Boll film to fail no matter what its genre.

Uwe Boll, the man is a hack and while In the Name of the King was not bad, it was not good either and it had a lot of good actors in it. I wish there were more fantasy movies, I wish they did well, they don't, but remember this was not just a fantasy movie this was a movie based on a video game, Uwe Boll trademark.

I know he's a hack, but I'd prefer to have more options for fantasy movies. And, yes, we'd even be better off if bad ones were made, as long as that meant some of them were good instead. More choices = more potential for good movies (certainly more potential than almost none being made).
