Looking deeper into the casting I see that one of my old roommates has a role as does another school chum and several people with whom I have trod the boards.

I wonder if Azkaban's lower numbers are attributable Chamber, to contemporary factors or just chance?

I think it was the year, Troy (13) opened 05/14, Shrek 2 (1) opened 05/19, The Day After Tomorrow (7) was 05/28, Azkaban (6) was 06/04, DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story (19) was 06/18 and Spider-Man 2 (2) on 06/30.
