This year in Movies...

There have been a couple of surprises for me this year, X-Men: First Class & Harry Potter Deathly Hollows 2, stand out as the two best movies of the summer (both 9/10 in my scale) but then you have Fast Five (8/10), which was a wonderfully put together movie. Transformers (8/10) redeams the franchise.

  • X-Men: First Class; why? Chemistry, this was a very good cast, with great back story and script.
  • Harry Potter: why? Last of the movies or maybe coming after a weak DH pt 1 but there was an atmosphere to the movie that pulled you in as a viewer.
  • Fast Five - Great hiest movie, fast cars, hot girls and The Rock.
  • Transformers; maybe the weakest of my list but a true Mikey "EXPLOSION" Bay film, a recovery from the last Transformers film.

I've not watched many movies this year. But if you had to ask:

THOR - An incredible achievement in my eyes. Made the one hero least likely to appeal to a general audience a big hit. Helped by the fact that they got the perfect actor to play the part in Chris Hemsworth.

X-Men: First Class - Not just a great X-Men movie, but probably the best X-Men movie ever made. A stellar cast (led by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender), and a great director behind the helm (Mathhew Vaughn) helped make the Marvel mutants cool again. And the best part? No Wolverine (except for a very brief cameo)!

Green Lantern - Not really including this because it's a good film (because it's not!). It's more of the "WTF?!! How could you mess that up?!" kind of thing. Big disappointment.
