Those High Arcana Blues....

OK, So I get to guest-star as a high level sorcerer/archmage CN in the realms. DM's a nice guy, feels if you spent the money on a book, you can use stuff out of it, so R&R, Spells&Spellcraft, and Tome&Blood are all in. I'm having trouble picking my three sorc spells/spell level for levels 7, 8, and 9, but that's my secondary problem. Main problem: ACM High Arcana.

Does mastery of shaping allow you to only change the shape of a spell when being cast, or after you've cast it? I assume the former.

Arcane fire: I think i'm correct in assuming it's not actually fire damage, but rather type-less damage. SR apply? Supressed by Anti-magic field ?

s'all i can remember having problems with.

I believe shaping is when you actually cast the spell. Difficult to prepare the spell when you are a sorcerer....

Arcane fire is typeless damage. I believe it is a supernatural ability, so it will be stopped by an anti-magic field. Almost positive SR still applies since it is magic damage. Only spellfire bypasses SR (and maybe silver fire does too, not sure).

Hope that helps!

Tsk tsk, Cloudgatherer.

As a supernatural ability, arcane fire is NOT subject to spell resistance. It is suppressed by an anti-magic field, though.

Knock it off firstborne! You're just annoyed cuz i made your 25th or so level super-villian cult of the dragon guy (he cast a quickened implosion at me) dance himself to death. :) 'least you offed the pally, but then again, we alllll saw that one comming. Hope his next character has some way of dealing with the fact that dragons can MOVE!!
