thoughts on flanking?

I was just looking at some of the different synergies around.

One, I think would work is a flanker type character.

With a wolf totem barb, you get +2 to flanking. Taking the feat vexing flanker, gets a total +6 to the character flanking, if i'm correct.

Using power attack becomes that much simpler i'm thinking.

Beyond adaptable flanker, if anyone has suggestions on how to make this more powerful/useful please chime in.

Thanks

Be a Swashbuckler. You get Improved Flanking class feature, then there's a feat to make the bonuses +6 for you and +3 for allies (before adding the other things you named). Feat's called Superior Flanking from Dragon mag #343, or p. 92 here: http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Feats.pdf

Page 45 of that pdf has Combat Reflexes-based feats. One I like is called Backstab (only requires CR): "You may make an Attack of Opportunity against an opponent that you flank who attacks a target other than you."

Now, for extra cheese, add in Tome of Battle. Either be a swordsage for 1 level or spend two feats (you need to know a maneuver via Martial Study to learn a stance with Martial Stance). Whichever method you choose, pick Island of Blades as your stance (from Shadow Hand discipline). It gives you the constant benefit that you basically count as anywhere around an opponent you threaten for the purposes of determining flanking. So, you and your Rogue buddy could stand adjacent against an enemy, and you'd get all those sexy flanking benefits. Of course, if you actually have a Rogue in the party, maybe ask him to get the stance instead. Swordsage is a good dip for that class anyway.
There's also Adaptable Flanker feat, but Island of Blades is better.

Be fast. And get some way to fly if possible. You can't flank an opponent if you can't be in appropriate position. In 3.5e, unless you can make DC25+ tumble checks constantly, your speed become 1/2 when tumbling.

Also, be a high AC character. Better if you have high saves, too. Flankers tend to be attacked more often than other characters, because of your positioning.
