Thread Notification Emails?

So, I've been trying to set my thread notifications to send email when new posts come in for a couple of subscriptions. This wasn't a problem a year or so ago... but I can't seem to get it to work now. Is there some trick I don't know about, or has it become a CS-only feature?

Notification e-mails, and all other e-mail related functions, have been turned off for some time now, due to the stress they put on the server.

We expect to turn these back on after the upgrade.
