And what would an AoO look like? Throw your bow/crossbow on the opponent? When you have the opportunity for an AoO you have to load your bow/crossbow and that just needs more time than you have for an AoO ...  so you don´t really have the opportunity, because your weapon isn´t allowing it.You threaten the area only in your attack because only then you can use your weapon ...
