Thrown magic weapons question

Okay, I've seen this in a couple of different message threads, but I've not seen anything official so help me out if you can...

If you throw a magic weapon, for example a hammer, does it automagically return to the thrower? Several times on here and in other places I've seen casual comments dropped that it does. I'm trying to find something official.

Thanks!

What about weapons like the Bola or Net? If I throw my +1 Magic Bola at an opponent, it instantly returns to my hand. But does that mean that the opponent is no longer immobilized? Or is there some magical force that remains tangling up the bad guy's ankles...

The text for Thrown Weapons states that thrown weapons return "after a ranged attack with the weapon is resolved."

So you can describe it any way you want.

  • magical force remains entangling the target
  • bola returns when the target gets free
  • other

Duh, should have caught that thread. :)

Okay, so it does return.

Here is another question - does it matter whether or not its your offhand weapon?

I've got 2 hammers with 2 Weapon Fighting and Opening. My main weapon is a Craghammer. The offhand weapon is a +2 Throwing hammer.

Thanks!
