They are coming and pretty soon. Samsung and Toshiba have both shown hybrid HD with like 16gb of flash ram. Windows Vista is apparently going to have support for caching system functions to attached flash drives and Intel has promised support for this on their next gen or so of motherboards.

Yeah, ReadyBoost they call it. Cept I don't know how they are going to get around the fact that flash drives can only be written and rewritten so many times. Doesn't come up often with standard use, but if Vista keeps caching files to it, rewriting other files to it, etc in the background, how long is my pricey little companion going to last?

They have a controller/layer system which transparently evens out "wear" by shuffling blocks. The bigger the flash drive, the longer the life.
