Hello. New member here, but seasoned DM :) After reading these suggestions and coming up with my own ideas, this is how I intend to run this scenario: The dragon is trying to establish himself in this area, gathering trophies and slaves, and trying to avoid problems with nearby cities. 1. The tower where the dragon lives is not in the middle of the other buildings, but on the top of a small hill. 2. The cultists tried to negotiate with the dragon, but they were killed and had their bodies displayed in the entrance of the tower. 3. The druid is an impostor. The real one is dead and buried inside one building. The impostor is a slave of the dragon, and his mission is to warn the dragon about significant dangers or to send him weak adventurers that might have valuable items. 4. In Phandelver, there are rumors about missing persons: the bard that used to work on the Inn, and the son of the farmer (who is related to the rogue of the party). The PCs will find out eventually that the boy was captured by the Redbrands and given to the dragon. The thing is: the boy has a somewhat dragon-shaped mark on his shoulder, and the green dragon is curious about it, so he decided to take him as his pet. That's why glasstaff had ordered the rogue killed. He knew that the rogue would never accept this deal with the dragon, being related to the boy. These thing establish a significant driving factor to the party to pursue this dragon early in the adventure. The thing is: if they decide to fight, they probably won't be able to defeat the beast. The dragon will beat them and humiliate them, take any magic items and coins they have, and release them. He will challenge them to come back for more or ask for a ransom for the boy - magic items or gold. Let's see what they do after this. They may look for help, or go after other quests and return later. What do you think?
