Ti Kwan Leep
"Boot to the Head."
“Approach students. Close the circle at the feet of the master. You have come to me asking that I be your guide along the path of tae-kwon-leep, but be warned. To learn its ways, you must learn the ways of your own soul. Let us meditate on this wisdom now.” The wisend monk spoke softly.
“Uh sir... sir... ooo! ooo! Sir!” A lound rambunctious man raised his hand in the far back.
“Who disturbs our meditation as a pebble disturbs a pond?”
“Me. Ed Gooberman.” The young man stated.
The monk teacher was confused. “E... Ed Gooberman?”
“Yeah. No disrespect or nothing, but like how long is this going to take?” The young man stood up and started making his way to the front of the temple.
The Master wisely spoke. “Tae-Kwon-Leep is not a path to a door, but a road leading forever towards the horizon.”
“So like, what, an hour or so?”
Horrified, the Master continued. “No, no. We have not even begun upon the path. Ed Gooberman, you must learn patience.”
“Yeah, yeah, patience. How long will that take?”
The Master sighed. “Time has no meaning. To a true student, a year is as a day. “
“A year?! I wanna beat people up right now! I got the pajamas. Ha..yo...wa... wooo!”
The Master looked at him and wondered silently how the hell he got into the monestary. “Beat people up?”
“Yeah, just show me all those nifty moves so I can start trashing bozo's. That's all I came here for. Yo-as-ta-ta-shah! Pretty good aye?”
The Master shook his head. “The only use of Tae-Kwon-Leep is self defense. Do you know who said that?” The teacher questioned. “Ki-lo-knee, the great teacher.”
The youth spoke up. “Yeah, well the best defense is a good o-fense. Do you know who said that? Mel, some cook in a tavern.”
The Master was truly put off by this idiotic youth and had quite enough. But he remained calm. “Well, umm... Tae-Kwon Leep is the wine of purity, not the vinigar of hostility. Meditate on this truth with us. Ahhh.... ohhhhh....”
The youth was angry. He was tired of al this philosophy crap. “Listen shrimp, now are you gonna show me those nifty moves, or am I gonna start wiping the walls with you?”
The Master sighed. “Ed Gooberman, you fail to grasp Tae-Kwon Leep. Approach me so that you may see.”
The youth smiled. “Alright, finally some action.” He approached the man and was stopped at 30 feet in front of him.
“Observe closely class. Boot to the Head.” The teacher threw a heavy boot at the youth which landed squarely in the head.
Ed rubbed his head. “Ow, you booted me in the head!”
The Master smiled wisely. “You are lucky Ed Gooberman. Few novices experiece so much of Tae-Kwon Leep so soon.”
Ed continued to rub his head. “Ow, oh, my head.”
“Now we continue.” Said the Master going back into meditation.
“Hey, hey, I wasn't ready! Come and get me now, come on, are you chicken?” He started walking closer.
“Boot to the head.”
“Ow! Okay, now I'm ready, come on, try it now.”
“Boot to the head. “
The youth was starting to get punch drunk. “Mind if I just lie down here for a minute? Ow.”
“Now class, we shall return to our... “
“Master?” A student with a bald head raised his hand.
“It is wrong to tip the vessle of knowledge student.”
The young man stood. “Many apologies master, but I feel Ed Gooberman is not wholly wrong.”
The Master was shocked to see one of his own siding with an outsider. “What do you mean?”
“I want to boot some head too.”
The Master shook his head and sighed. He thought he had seen this coming. “Have you learned nothing from the lesson of Ed Gooberman?”
The student smiled wisely. “Yes master, I have learned two things. First, that anger is a weapon only to ones oppenent.”
“Very good.” Said the Master.
The student continued. “And get in the first shot. Boot to the head.”
The Master smiled and stood up. “You missed.”
The Student stood up and looked around nervously. “Uh, yeah, well ... “
“You to shall be honored to learn a lesson.”
The student took a few steps back. “Ya know, I can... you don't have to ya know... I gotta be going.... “
“Boot to the Head.”
“Ooo...ya.. ehh... ooooogggg... awwwwww” The student lay there in agony.
“Can anyone tell us what lesson has been learned here?”
Another student raised his hand and stood. “Uh, yes master, not a single one of could defeat you.”
The Master nodded. “You gain wisdom child.”
The student looked around and everyone stood up. “So we'll have to gang up on you! Get him now!”
“Boot... boot to... ht.. ...” Boots were flying left and right and hitting all the students while they continually missed him. When it was all over, they lay on the ground moaning and groaning in pain.
“And now class, let us rejoin the mind to the body, and gaze into the heart of the candle in meditation. Ahh... owwww.... “
The student chimed in with their cries of pain. “ahhh... oooooowwwww.....”
”Very good, class.” And the Master smiled.
