I think it could be effective in a longer piece, where one could switch back and forth between points of view. It could also work if Jeanelle's view of the world were especially distinct - getting the audience inside her head, in that case, would contribute to the flavor of the story. As it stands, though, I'd suggest rewriting the whole piece to be in 3rd person.
